Rebirth
Dear Relatives,
How do we conquer death?
How do we embrace death?
By waking up!
Ah, the unconscious living,
Dissolving into
The conscious dead
Reemerging!
The Dying dance, le petit mort,
every ecstatic moment!
Beyond the edge of death –
The plunge
Into enstasy — silent solitary illumination
Beyond the gate
“Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha.”
Translation:
“Gone, gone,
gone all the way over,
everyone gone to the other shore,
enlightenment,
svaha!”
“…the dead are not powerless.
Dead, did I say?
There is no death, only a change of worlds.”
— attributed (not without some controversy!) to Chief Sealth (Seattle), Suquamish and Duwamish in 1854, (1786-1866)
What is sustainable?
The Fertility of Mother Earth!
Plant your seeds of healing peace
And Love!
After “dying” in the fall and returning to the embrace of the Earth,
the hungry Mother Bear emerges from her den – reborn!
And with precious new life – Bear Cubs!
And we give thanks.
May All Beings Be Happy!
For conservation and sustainability,
–

“To restore the land one must live and work in a place.
To work in a place is to work with others.
People who work together in a place become a community,
and a community, in time, grows a culture.
To work on behalf of the wild is to restore culture.”
– Gary Snyder
